A-Z Fruit and Veg Photo Project: S is for Snow Peas

I took advantage of a bright sunny day to shoot these snow peas. The negative space allows your eyes to focus on the succulent, light and crunchy appearance of the snow peas.

Opening a few pods, to reveal the adorable peas inside, made the composition more interesting. It’s what really makes this photo work.

What is this all about?

  1. And yes, my eyes sure focused on them – I have actually never opened one up.. since I always use them “as they are” in chinese food recipes… Interesting!

    • I usually use them as is also, but I was inspired to open them up after seeing one of my favourite food photographers do this! I’m not sure if it is snow peas or some other type of pea, but they are really fat and kind of burst open when you squeeze them! I loved doing that when I was kid.

  2. I LOVE this picture! It’s simply beautiful. The negative space thing works great, and I can imagine this pic blown up hanging in a spacious kitchen…
